SPS Start@NYU Shanghai - MS in Integrated Marketing

Professor June Bu teaches Integrated Marketing and Campaign I. Professor Bu is an independent consultant who specializes in marketing strategies, brand building, and talent development. She has worked with companies such as Merck Consumer Care, Church & Dwight, Mattel, Jahwa, Omey, Pepsi Lipton, Ferrero, and various start-ups. Previously, she spent 20 years at Johnson & Johnson in a number of senior executive roles. She has been a member of NYU Shanghai and NYU SPS’ faculty since Fall 2020.

Professor Xin Liu teaches Statistical Measurements, Analysis & Research. Professor Liu’s expertise is in machine learning, big data analysis, mathematical statistics, visualization, and forecast analysis. He has been an Associate Professor at the Shanghai University of Finance and Economics School of Statistics and Management since January 2018. He has also been a Visiting Scholar at Simon Fraser University and the University of Waterloo. He holds a PhD from the University of Western Ontario. Professor Liu has been a member of NYU Shanghai and NYU SPS’ faculty since Fall 2021.

Professor Corin Somerville teaches Campaign I. Professor Somerville is an independent marketing consultant with expertise in brand strategy, integrated marketing and communication planning. Prior to becoming a consultant he was head of strategy at Universal McCann, China and Maxus (GroupM) North Asia. His career has spanned creative agencies, media agencies, and digital agencies and he has worked on a diverse range of clients including Apple, PepsiCo. Johnson & Johnson, Hilton, Ferrari, Pandora, Pfizer, Huawei, GE and Virgin Atlantic.

Professor Shen Xu teaches Digital Marketing. Professor Xu was a serial entrepreneur with expertise in marketing strategies, social media, digital marketing, and FinTech. He is the founder and CEO of Sino-Kr, a prominent service provider of digital and social media marketing, and was listed on the Forbes China “30 Under 30”. Moreover, Professor Xu is also active in research and teaching in fields of marketing, strategies, and organizational behavior. He is a Distinguished Expert of Beijing, Chair Professor of Henan Province, and Evaluation Expert of Beijing Association for Science and Technology. He has teaching experience in City University of Hong Kong, Beijing Normal University, Henan Institute of Science and Technology, etc. He holds PhD and BBA degrees both from City University of Hong Kong.

SPS Start@NYU Shanghai - MS in Management and Analytics

Professor Tim Klatte is an Adjunct Instructor of Management and Systems at NYU Shanghai. Dr. Klatte is multilingual, a DBA graduate, and currently leading the Shanghai Forensic Advisory Services business for Grant Thornton China. He holds 28 years of China-related experience, of which 16 years has been working in Shanghai for two leading global accounting firms and a premier Chinese investment management company. With both Deloitte (2004-2014) and Grant Thornton (2016-present), Tim has focused on Forensic Advisory to develop, manage, and enhance ethics & compliance programs. Leveraging risk management consulting and his strong academic background, he effectively prioritizes and builds sustainable ethics & compliance programs for clients in China’s complex and changing business environment.

Professor Scott Pollack, with over 30 years of strategy, business development, sales, marketing, product and consulting experience primarily in the Internet, digital media and technology space, Scott has been successful developing and growing businesses in the United States and Asia (including Mainland China, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea and Singapore). Doing business in Asia since 1999 and living in China since 2005, his experience includes senior executive roles in public companies, start-ups, and global consultancies.

Professor Helena Rong is an Assistant Professor Faculty Fellow of Interactive Media Business (IMB) at NYU Shanghai and affiliated with the Program on Creativity + Innovation (PCI). Her research operates at the nexus of urban studies, design, technology studies, data science, and public policy. She focuses on leveraging innovative technologies and methodologies to foster social impact in urban decision-making, aligning incentives across diverse stakeholders to maximize the societal benefits of technological innovation, and developing adaptive urban interfaces that respond to evolving community needs.
 

MOT Shanghai-NYC - MS in Management of Technology

Professor Qing Chen teaches Data Visualization. Professor Chen's expertise is in information visualization, big data visual analytics, human-computer interaction, generative AI and their applications in education, healthcare, design, and business intelligence, having published extensively on these subjects. She is currently an associate professor at Tongji University School of Design and Innovation. Before joining Tongji, she worked as a postdoc researcher at INRIA and École Polytechnique. She holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. She received several awards including the CSIG Natural Science Award, Hong Kong ICT Best Innovation Silver Award, and Asia Pacific ICT Awards. She works as the committee member of various top conferences and the community chair for IEEE VIS 2022-2023. She is the principal investigator of several National Natural Science Funds and a couple of University-Industry Collaboration projects.

Professor Joel Gallo teaches Financial Analysis for Technology Managers. Professor Gallo is a financial services industry thought leader with over 25 years experience. He is currently CFO for HD Edu, and on the Board of Directors of Hywin Wealth Management - a NASDAQ-listed firm. He has published and been quoted extensively in: Caixin, Bloomberg Businessweek, Reuters, China-US Focus. He was a Senior Executive at Deloitte, E&Y, PwC and Scudder Kemper Investments where he advised more than 100 global financial institutions. He has been a member of NYU Shanghai and NYU Tandon’s faculty since Fall 2021.

Professor Jon Newton teaches Organizational Behavior. With over 20 years of China business experience, Jon brings a unique blend of practitioner expertise. Jon has previously taught executive and graduate courses in Organizational Behavior, Leadership, Negotiations and Entrepreneurship at Fudan University, University of Aberdeen, SKEMA Business School and University of Dundee. He is a regular keynote speaker for visiting international business schools and he also consults for various foreign clients on China market entry and organizational restructuring. In 2008, he co-founded a water filtration services company and as the Managing Director he has built teams in Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou and Chengdu that service corporate clients in over 25 cities in China. His work and insights have led to features in Forbes magazine.
