Why I chose NYU Shanghai
NYU Shanghai appeals to me because it blends global diversity with academic freedom in a way few universities can. The campus brings together classmates and professors from every corner of the world, so every discussion exposes me to perspectives I would never encounter elsewhere. At the same time, the curriculum is deliberately flexible. That combination of an international community and an open, interdisciplinary approach means I won’t just study a single major. Instead, I’ll learn how different fields intersect and discover where my own strengths fit best.
Favorite spot/thing to do in Shanghai
My favorite spot in Shanghai is the stretch of grass on NYU Shanghai’s quad. On sunny days you’ll find students scattered across the lawn, sprawling on picnic blankets, sharing take-out, chatting between classes, and sometimes even holding informal seminars right there in the open air. The mix of sunshine, laughter, and spontaneous learning makes the space feel equal parts campus commons and city park. It’s the one place where the bustle of Shanghai slows to a relaxed, almost-holiday pace, reminding me that college life can be both productive and wonderfully chill at the same time.
