Yanyue Yuan is Associate Area Head of Interactive Media and Business (IMB) and Associate Arts Professor of Interactive Media Business at NYU Shanghai. She is also an affiliate faculty member in the Program on Creativity + Innovation (PCI) and co-facilitates the Creative Experience Design Lab with colleagues.
Her research focuses on intergenerational learning design, project-based learning, and design and art education, with a particular emphasis on experiential and community-engaged pedagogies.
Yanyue holds a Ph.D. in Education from the University of Cambridge and a Master’s degree in Anthropology from the University of Oxford. Before joining NYU Shanghai, she worked as a Rutherford Curatorial Researcher at the London Science Museum and taught as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at ShanghaiTech University.
She is active both in publishing her research and in creating public engagement initiatives that connect her work to wider communities and generate social impact. Her projects have received support from competitive external grants, including the Chenguang Talent Program (2019–2021) funded by the Shanghai Education Development Foundation and Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, as well as the Shanghai Philosophy and Social Sciences Annual Project funded by the Shanghai Philosophy and Social Sciences Planning Office.
